Chants: Zoo Animals Theme 1

WE'RE GOING TO THE ZOO-
We're going to the zoo zoo zoo.
How about you you you.
You can come too too too.
Wer'e going to the zoo zoo zoo.

AT THE ZOO-
I see elephants with heavy legs,
eating bacon and eggs.
I see giraffes with very long necks,
playing with the horses around a deck.
I see zebras wearing black and white,
running freely under the sunlight.
I see monkeys making funny tricks,
eating bananas and playing with sticks.
I see the seals swimming in the pool,
and sitting with grace on a wood stool.
I see children holding colorful balloons,
next to a cage where I can see raccoons!
I see people walking around,
listening to the foxes making their wow wow sound.

THE ZOO-
This is the way the elephant goes,
With curly trunk instead of nose.
(clasp hands and move arms back and forth dangling)
The buffalo all shaggy and fat,
Has two sharp horns in place of hat.
(point fingers out from forehead)
The hippo with his mouth so wide,
Lets you see what is inside.
(open and close hands to make mouth movements)
The wiggly snake upon the ground,
Crawls along without a sound.
(weave hands back and forth)
But the monkey see and monkey do,
Is the funniest animal in the zoo.
(put thumbs in ears and wiggle hands)

THE ZOO IS LOTS OF FUN-
One one, the zoo is lots of fun.
Two two, see a kangaroo.
Three three, see a chimpanzee.
Four four, hear the lions roar.
Five five, watch the seals dive.
Six six, there's a monkey doing tricks.
Seven seven, count the elephants-eleven.
Eight eight, a tiger and his mate.
Nine nine, penguins in a line.
Ten ten, I want to come again!

IF I WERE LOST-
If I were lost inside a zoo,
I think that this is what I'd do,
I'd say "Giraffe, please look around,
your head so high above the ground.
Will you point out to me the place,
where you can see my father's face."

TEN LITTLE PENGUINS-
Ten little penguins standing on the ice.
All of them are smiling they seem so very nice.
They play out in the snow all the winter long.
They eat a lot of fish which makes them big and strong.

FIVE LITTLE MONKEYS-
Five little monkeys jumping on the bed.
One fell off and bumped his head.
Mama called the doctor and the doctor said:
No more monkeys jumping on the bed.
(Continue chant counting down till… 1 little monkeys…)

5 LITTLE MONKEYS-
5 little monkeys high up in the tree.
Teasing Mr. Alligator,
"You can't catch me, can't catch me, can't catch me!"
Along comes Mr. Alligator quiet as can be…SNAP!
that monkey right out of that tree!
(Continue chant counting down till… 0 little monkeys… Along comes Mr. Alligator fat as can be!)

SWING SWING-
Little monkeys swinging in the tree,
All hold hands and swing with me.
Swing up high and swing down low,
Swing in the tree, now don't let go!
Swing, swing, like I do.
Swing like monkeys in the zoo.
(Have the children stand in a circle and hold hands. Have them swing their arms up and down.)

MONKEY SEE, MONKEY DO-
Monkey see monkey do!
Let's watch them in the zoo.
We stare in (Put left hand up),
they look out (Put right hand).
We eat popcorn (Left hand fingers touch the thumb),
they eat popcorn (Right hand fingers touch the thumb).
We eat fruit (Left finger sways back and forth),
they eat fruit (Right finger sways back and forth).
We stand up (Left fingers up),
they stand up (Right fingers up).
We sit down (Left fingers down),
they sit down (Right fingers down).
Monkey see monkey do.
We do it first and they do it too!
